約翰福特 (John Ford，1894–1973)：愛爾蘭裔，美國電影導演，是著名的西部片導演，執導的眾多經典西部片中，《驛馬車》被認為是巔峰之作。四度獲得奧斯卡最佳導演獎：《革命叛徒》、《怒火之花》、《翡翠谷》和《蓬門今始為君開》，《翡翠谷》亦獲得奧斯卡最佳影片獎。在長達50多年的影藝生涯，執導140餘部電影，被公認是他那一代最重要和最有影響力的電影導演之一。在默片時期，以Jack Ford之名執導，85%的作品已失傳。他與演員約翰韋恩合作長達35年， 21部電影。
