《四豪傑》改編自1959年Max Catto的同名小說。本片開創1970年代拍攝災難片風潮，如《海神號》 (The Poseidon Adventure，1972)、《火燒摩天樓》(The Towering Inferno，1974)、《大地震》 (Earthquake，1974)等影片。
